“Good friends we have had, oh good friends we’ve lost along the way”-Bob Marley

For the past several months I have turned into my alter ego superhero called Zero Dark Writer. I don’t know what special power attributes he has nor whether or not he drives a fancy car that has secret compartments and a machine gun turret, however I do know that he has a high awareness as to when it is time for him to remove himself from the grid in one single bound in order to allow the storms to settle while he gathers his thoughts and his hopeful voice of sound reasoning. During his hiatus he has learned that so much has changed yet so much has not changed, however what still holds true is the words of his good friend Bob Marley who stated: “Good friends we have had, oh good friends we’ve lost along the way”.  What was once thought to be buried in a shroud as a forgone conclusion that is racism/bigotry has proven to be a mere hoax for subscribers of Politically Correct Television. I stated some several blogs of the past that I only know of one America and it is the America that we see today. In fact I went as far as to say that America was immature and not fully developed as a nation, as we are still just some 50 years removed from racial injustice and inequality.  Were we hoodwinked and bamboozled, not quite, but what we were doing is living in a state of denial. I stated that America was in 8 years of sensitivity training during the Obama administration, but now we find ourselves right back from which we came. Yes we are in the time of the Eye-Con, where as we take the truth that is shown to us on media outlets and make it our source of intellect. We appear to be more comfortable being dictated to, as opposed to being that of a learned person these days.  I have concluded that the freethinker is becoming obsolete as we see more and more acts of degradation being committed against one another in honor of so-called candidates that would never bring themselves off of their pedestals long enough to simply dine with you.  What happens when the last freedom, which is in your mind, is no longer free? One of the most brilliant minds in the history of the world, Albert Einstein, stated: “Blind belief in authority is the greatest enemy of truth.” I had one friend of mine state that I was wasting my time when referring people to view an introspective documentary on the former heads of the CIA. Let that settle in for a second. He said I was wasting my time basically because people don’t want to hear/read about the truth no longer. Now mind you the people who were actually in the documentary speaking were the actual former Heads of the CIA. So it was not a fictitious account, it was their actual words and their actual perspective. But I had to thank my friend for slapping me back into reality. The reality that we are in a time of the Eye-Con, where people are not interested in the truth, they are just interested in being “right” instead of righteous no matter what information is available out there. This is why friends have been lost along the way and there is little to no hope that these fences will ever mend back together especially once a person is identified for beliefs that contradict the reflection you see in your mirror every morning. All of this for empty promises from an Eye-Con and less belief in the promise that is God’s mantra of not giving us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love power and a sound mind. Too bad some of us allowed fear to kill off love as we seek power in order to make our minds feel sound. #lost along the way

I just wanted to take a moment to speak upon the secondary part of my title, the actual Icons, namely the musical ones. With the loss of Prince, George Michael, David Bowie and Phife Dawg, I have assessed that God indeed loves great music. Anyone who grew up loving music and is circa my age recognizes the cultural impact these men had upon our youth, providing us with an unforgettable sound that will forever ring throughout our eardrums. I am a bit bias with regards to my era of growing up simply because our music revolutionized not only music, but television as well with the MTV era. So here’s my ode to a mash-up of the true Icons #“I never meant to cause you any sorrow…. All I wanted (was) something special, something sacred in your eyes (so) If you say run, I’ll run with you, If you say hide, we’ll hide because my love for you (will) never let a statue tell me how nice I am”#2017
